Why should you study Cybersecurity in Berlin

A promising landscapeA total of ten scientific establishments are now researching issues of digital security in Berlin and Brandenburg, spearheaded by the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications Heinrich- Hertz-Institut (HHI). The Technical University of Berlin also sets standards with its three chairs on cybersecurity issues. These are Secure and Trustworthy Network-connected Embedded Systems Architectures; Security in Telecommunications; and Distributed Security Infrastructures.
Cybersecurity investment growing nationallyThe BMBF has provided funding of around €66 million for projects in IT security since 2009 and supports innovative procedures and technologies to protect IT systems where data protection plays an important role from attack and unauthorized access.
Vibrant Start-up culture in CybersecurityThe country’s vibrant start-up culture allows the pooling of expert knowledge from business and science. Berlin and Frankfurt each have a FinTech hub, while Cologne and Munich are home to InsurTech hubs. Start-ups are providing security solutions for mass markets as well as to corporate clients.
Germany is the leading software market in EuropeThere are 5 different hubs gathered all over Germany, plus 6 Institutes for Cybersecurity, and a promising landscape that keeps growing in the innovative software and cybersecurity solutions environment, helping to consolidate Germany's position as Europe's leading software market.

What sets Berlin apart?

Germany’s capital city is also its most influential both in terms of culture and commerce. A world city of media, science, and politics; Berlin’s economy is based on high-tech firms and the service sector.
Berlin offers a much lower cost of living than other European cities, which has brought hundreds of startups and established companies. And along with these companies have come tens of thousands of young workers, dreamers and entrepreneurs.
Europe’s biggest tech hub is teaming with fresh faces from the world over, and you can join them! Study and work toward your new future in the heart of Berlin. Then step out your door into a unique mix of modern culture and history, a deeply inclusive international community, and perhaps the most famous nightlife in the world. All this at your fingertips while you study and work toward a new future.
